Research Interests:

My research focuses on investigation of pharmacist-patient professional relationships, and behavioral aspects of patient medication use. I use health behavior theories, cognitive psychology theories and marketing models as a framework to conduct my research. Specific areas of investigation include: (1) formation and maintenance of pharmacist-patient relationships, (2) effects of health care system factors on pharmacist-patient relationships (e.g., mail order pharmacy, managed care, pharmacy benefit plans), (3) effects of pharmacist-patient relationships on patient outcomes and health care costs, and (4) understanding factors that influence patient medication-related behaviors. I am interested in investigating these issues in vulnerable and/or underserved patient groups such as older adults, patients in rural areas and culturally diverse patient groups.
