M.A. in English Studies with minor in Linguistics, Petrozavodsk Pedagogical University, Russia - 1992
M.A. in Linguistics, University of Minnesota - 1994
Ph.D. in Linguistics (concentration in Cognitive Science), University of Minnesota - 1999

Research Interests:
Natural language processing (NLP) and its applications to clinical research, biomedical test analysis, automatic term extraction and frame-based concept representation, syntax-semantics interface, hybrid machine learning and rule-based approaches to NLP, semantic relatedness in the biomedical domain, automatic classification and categorization, automatic speech recognition.
