Introduction:
Tom Larson, Pharm.D., R.Ph., Professor, College of Pharmacy, is Co-director of the Pharmacy Rural Education, Practice, and Policy Institute.
Education:
Tom received a B.A. degree in Chemistry and Biology from Augsburg College, Minneapolis, Minnesota in 1974. He received a Laboratory Technologist degree from Northwestern Hospital School of Medical Technology and is certified by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists. In 1979-80 he received his B.S. and Doctor of Pharmacy degrees respectively, College of Pharmacy, University of Minnesota. He completed a post-graduate fellowship under the direction of Dale Gerding, M.D., Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Service to Rural Pharmacy:
Tom is currently on the Board of Directors for the Minnesota Rural Health Association. He is past-Chair and is currently a member of the executive committee for the Minnesota Rural Health School, Medical School, University of Minnesota, Duluth. He has been a member of several advisory task forces for the Office of Rural Health and Primary Care, Department of Health. Tom has testified concerning Rural Pharmacy issues for Minnesota Senate and House hearings with special interest in workforce and reimburement.
