Research Interests:

Dr. Isetts' field of expertise is in the implementation of pharmaceutical care practices. Brian was a practitioner in the "Minnesota Pharmaceutical Care Demonstration Project." He returned to the University of Minnesota in 1997 and  was recognized for his pioneering efforts in creating the University's student-driven Pharmaceutical Care Clinic (1999 AACP Innovation in Teaching Competition Award).  Dr. Isetts continues to serve as Course Director for the Pharmaceutical Care Clinic where students provide care to patients in the presence of experienced faculty.  Focus includes working with the American Medical Association to establish pharmacists' billing codes, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services to define compensation requirements for medication therapy management services, and the State of Minnesota to implement the Medication Therapy Management Care Law.  Recent awards include a 2004 College of Pharmacy/
Fairview Pharmacy Services Pinnacle Award for demonstrating quality in the medication use process, the 2005 Jacob W. Miller Award from the APhA-
Foundation, and the 2005 Minnesota Bowl of Hygeia Award for service to his community and the profession.
