James Fisher is the Director of the Clinical Pharmacology Analytical Services (CPAS, formerly known as the ECP Core Lab).  CPAS, a division of the Center for Forecasting Drug Response, provides analytical support for investigator-initiated research at the College of Pharmacy, the University of Minnesota and beyond.

An experienced analytical scientist, Jim is responsible for developing analytical techniques for the measurement of drugs, metabolites and other molecultes in biological fluids for both clinical and research based studies.  In addition to overseeing lab personnel and contributions to technical writing for external grant preparations, he is responsible for the development of QA procedures, standard operating procedures and general lab management. 

Jim's educational training includes B.A., Chemistry, Michigan State University, East Lansing, MI B.S. as well as Criminalistics, Michigan State University, East Lansing, MI. With over 20 years of experience as an analytical chemist, Jim has worked in a variety of laboratory settings including commercial production facilities and in government research. His background includes testing of environmental samples and work in forensic toxicology. By way of working in these areas, Jim has acquired extensive experience with GC, GC/MS, HPLC and LC-MSMS instrumentation.
