Dr. Morley is a medical anthropologist and an educator. He received his Bachelor of Arts Degree (Honors) in politics, sociology and anthropology and the Master of Arts Degree in Political Science from Simon Fraser University in British Columbia, Canada. Dr. Morley continued his education at Stirling University in Stirling, Scotland, where he received the Doctor of Philosophy Degree in Anthropology.
Dr. Morley held faculty positions at Stirling University in Scotland and Memorial University Medical School of Newfoundland, Canada, the School of Nursing at the University of Utah, and the College of Pharmacy at the University of Minnesota. He served as the Director of the Transcultural Nursing program while at the University of Utah. Dr. Morley's work has taken him to many countries and involved him in many different cultures around the world.
Dr. Morley has advised over 100 graduate students from virtually every discipline in the health and social sciences. He has been elected a fellow of the Royal Anthropological Institute of Great Britain and a fellow of the Society for Applied Anthropology of the United States.
Dr. Morley joined the research team of Drs. Cipolle and Strand in 1983 and has been working to further develop and teach the practice of pharmaceutical care since then. His work focuses on the ethical and sociocultural aspects of pharmaceutical care practice. He has been instrumental in making the patient's perspective central to the practice of pharmaceutical care and understanding the process of change in a health profession.
Dr. Morley presently holds the position of Professor in the College of Pharmacy at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
