Introduction:

Karen Meyers received her bachelor's degree with honors in English Literature from The University of Minnesota, College of Liberal Arts in 1992. After a foray into the realm of corporate retail management that included a year and a half in Jackson, Wyoming, she found herself back in the warm embrace of the University of Minnesota in 1995, but this time, on the other side of Washington Avenue, in the College of Pharmacy's Dean's Office. In 1997 she accepted a position with The Peters Institute to help with the final drafts of Pharmaceutical Care Practice (first edition) and to help organize a Certificate Program for Pharmaceutical Care Practitioners.

Though somewhat removed from her studies in Victorian Literature of Great Britain, she has found that the intellectual environment of the Peters Institute and the vibrant atmosphere of discovery has allowed her to learn more than she could have imagined about Pharmacy and practice theory. She looks forward to continuing to assist the research, teaching, and service activities of the faculty of the Peters Institute and even possibly to her own creative research work in the area of pharmaceutical care as the practice continues to expand, and patients receive better quality of care from their health care professionals.
