The Center for Excellence in Critical Care is the managing Center for the Partnership for Excellence in Critical Care (PECC), a consortium of fifteen Academic Health Centers from around the United States.

Research Collaboration
PECC is presently collaborating with eight PECC member institutions on a best practice protocol, funded by the James S. McDonnell Foundation. A spontaneous breathing trial combined with sedation awakening has led to shorter time on a ventilator for patients. Results of the study will be published when data analysis is complete.
