CBI Seminar and Research Talks

We are sponsoring a new series of biweekly seminars and research talks with the goal to provide a venue for enhancing dialogue and research interactions across the interface of chemistry and biology.

Chemical Biology Colloquium (CBC)
Leading investigators will give seminars tackling biomedical & biological questions by a variety of interdisciplinary research techniques. The CBC will be held on alternating Mondays Spring Semester in Moos 1-451 from 12:15 p.m. - 1:15 p.m. and by ITV to the Duluth Campus in LifeSciences 144. We are pleased to announce the schedule for Spring 2009.

Feb. 2 * Tim Tracy, Department of Experiential and Clinical Pharmacology, University of Minnesota  “Structure-Function Relationships of the Cytochrome P450 2C9 Drug Metabolizing Enzyme and Impact of Genetic Variation”

March 9 * Linda Hsieh-Wilson, Department of Chemistry, Howard Hughes Institute of Medicine  “Carbohydrates in Neurobiology"

April 6 * David Corey, Department of Pharmacology and Biochemistry, Southwestern Medical School  “Controlling Cell biology with Synthetic Oligonucleotides”

May 18 * Doro Kern, Department of Biochemistry, Howard Hughes Institute of Medicine"Surfing the energy landscape - molecular pathways of conformational transitions"

Chemical Biology Interest Group (CBIG) Lunch & Learn
Over pizza and soda, two research groups will have the opportunity to present results from their current cutting edge science. The goal is to spur interdisciplinary interactions and problem solving across the interface of chemistry & biology. CBIG Lunch & Learn presentations will be held on alternating Mondays starting October 20th in Moos 1451 from 11:30 a.m. - 12:40 p.m. and by ITV to the Duluth Campus in LifeSciences Room 144.
