About the College

The University of Minnesota's College of Pharmacy houses some of the nation's top researchers and educates some of the brightest students in the nation. We develop new drugs to treat diseases such as cancer and AIDS. We provide statistical and socioeconomic information to lawmakers and industry leaders. We are recognized as one of the outstanding pharmacy education and research institutions in the world.

CoP Dean Speedie Headshot We are ranked among the top three colleges of pharmacy in the United States by the Gourman Report and U.S. News and World Report, and are fully accredited by the American Council On Pharmaceutical Education. Graduates of the College's four-year doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) program enter the profession as well-qualified, highly sought-after pharmacists.

We are the only college of pharmacy in Minnesota. We expanded our program to the University of Minnesota Duluth campus in September 2003. This helps us better serve the needs of Minnesotans, especially those in rural areas.

The College's programs are supported by centers of excellence in diverse areas of pharmacy, such as pharmaceutics, geriatrics, pharmacy management and economics, rural pharmacy and pharmaceutical care.
Dean Marilyn Speedie The teaching, research and service activities of the 90+ full-time faculty members and hundreds of volunteer faculty are focused in five disciplines:

medicinal chemistry, pharmaceutics, pharmaceutical care and health systems, experimental and clinical pharmacology, and pharmacy practice and pharmaceutical sciences.

The College is housed in the University of Minnesota Academic Health Center, a complex designed specifically for health education, research and practice. Pharmacy students have access to modern classrooms, laboratories and more than 350,000 volumes of pharmacy resource materials.

The University of Minnesota, a Big Ten University, is located in the beautiful and thriving cities of Minneapolis and St. Paul, with easy access to a wide range of social, cultural, recreational and athletic activities.
